Brett Favre Elite Jersey

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The unveiling of Brett Favre(Brett Favre Jersey)’s retired No. 4 on the Lambeau Field facade on Thanksgiving night is a major event for the Green Bay Packers and the NFL’s smallest city.

Hours before the game, Favre was presented with a key to the city, and Cherry Starr said her ailing husband, Bart, will attend the game against the Chicago Bears.

“Bart has limited strength,” Cherry Starr said Thursday afternoon. “But he is going to walk on that field tonight.”

No wonder Packers coach Mike McCarthy called it a “once-in-a-lifetime event” earlier this week.

But back at Favre’s home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the monumental event barely registered in his household. Speaking at a Thanksgiving luncheon for the Rawhide Boys Ranch — a charity Bart and Cherry Starr helped start nearly 50 years ago — Favre said the significance of it all didn’t hit him until he arrived in Green Bay on Wednesday.

“I never really thought about it,” Favre said. “No one wants to hear around our house what I did. I don’t walk around, saying, ‘Hey, I was pretty good.’ No one cares, because two nights ago I was taking out the trash. I was carrying the trash out, and I was like, ‘I’m getting ready to have my jersey retired, and here I am taking out the trash.’ Oh well.

“I guess the point in all that, it’s pretty amazing, it’s pretty cool. … I never dreamed of the unveiling of my jersey. I never dreamed of the Hall of Fame. Granted, that’s awesome. But I dreamed of playing. Very few people can probably say this: The dreams that I had as a kid, mine have come true and then some.”

It will be Favre’s first time at a game in Lambeau Field since 2010, his final NFL season with the Minnesota Vikings.

“[Packers fans] were giving me the No. 1 [sign], but it was a different No. 1,” Favre said. “It was like, ‘Oh, that’s not a wave.’”

But the mending process began over the summer, when Favre was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame. As part of that event on July 18, Favre made an appearance in the stadium bowl in front of more than 67,000 fans, who welcomed him back after an ugly split in 2008.

“We had a good thing going here,” Favre said Thursday of his departure in 2008. “But it’s all worked out now. It’s unfortunate how things worked out, but in the end, it’s all worked out.”

It also will be the first time Favre will see Aaron Rodgers play in person since their last head-to-head meeting. Favre heaped praise on his successor, saying, “He’s almost too good.”

“I mean that with all due respect,” Favre said. “It’s like, ‘Crap, why don’t he make a mistake every once in a while?’ All my good records are going to be taken, and all my bad ones I’m going to keep. Throw four picks in a game, would you? Or six. I tried that one time, too. Four of them were not my fault.

“When I watch him, he’s good. I don’t know what else to tell you. To me a really great quarterback, you really know if a guy’s great if he can carry his team when the rest of the team’s just OK and they lose guys and they plug guys in, but yet they still win.”

Carson Palmer Cardinals Jersey

TEMPE, Ariz. — The pelvic thrust that may lead to a fine for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer(Carson Palmer Jersey) wasn’t meant to taunt the Seattle Seahawks crowd late in a 39-32 victory on Sunday night.

Palmer told ESPN it was a gesture directed at three of his friends who were sitting in the stands behind the Cardinals’ bench. Palmer identified his friends as Pup, Phil and Sugar Cane. The gesture was caught by cameras during NBC’s broadcast of the game, and has gone viral.

After the win, Palmer discussed his celebration, which included a fist pump and a pelvic thrust, in relation to Drew Stanton’s running, jumping, kicking and punching celebration after Andre Ellington’s 48-yard touchdown run sealed the win.

“I had my buddies in the sideline, right four or five rows up,” Palmer said. “I saw them pretty excited and [that] got me excited to see them excited.”

Palmer could be fined for violating Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1(c) of the NFL rule book, which states: “There shall be no unsportsmanlike conduct. This applies to any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship. Such acts specifically include, among others: (c) The use of baiting or taunting acts or words that engender ill will between teams.”

Additionally, Note 4 of the rule states: “Violations of (c) will be penalized if any of the acts occur anywhere on the field. These acts include but are not limited to: throat slash; machine-gun salute; sexually-suggestive gestures, prolonged gyrations; or stomping on a team logo.”

Palmer could be fined either $11,576 for unsportsmanlike conduct or $8,681 for taunting, according to the NFL fine schedule.

“The last thing Carson Palmer would ever do was taunt an opposing fan,” Carson’s brother, Jordan, told ESPN. “It’s a joke.”

Colts Andrew Luck Jersey

The Indianapolis Colts realistically expect quarterback Andrew Luck(Andrew Luck Jersey) to miss at least? a month with a lacerated kidney and a partially torn abdominal muscle, league sources told ESPN’s Ed Werder.

The Colts announced Tuesday that Luck would be out two to six weeks after suffering the injuries in Sunday’s victory over the Denver Broncos.

But despite the two-to-six-week timeline, the Colts are prepared for Luck to be sidelined longer than the minimum projection, sources told Werder.

The San Diego Chargers placed star wide receiver Keenan Allen on season-ending injured reserve last week with a lacerated kidney because they were told he wouldn’t recover for at least six weeks and would not be cleared for contact even then.

Luck and Allen play different positions, and it is not clear whether the severity of their injuries is the same, league sources told Werder.

Colts coach Chuck Pagano said Tuesday that Luck likely will not need surgery but called the injury “one heck of a blow.”

“You don’t want to lose anybody, especially your starting quarterback,” Pagano said. “Our guys will respond like they always do. We’ve been through a ton already this season and in the past, and we’ll get through it.”

Luck, according to Pagano, was injured when he scrambled on a second-and-9 play and took a hit from Denver linebacker Danny Trevathan in the fourth quarter Sunday. Luck remained in the game and threw a touchdown pass to Ahmad Bradshaw on the next play.

Veteran Matt Hasselbeck will start at quarterback during Luck’s absence. Hasselbeck, 40, won both of his starts earlier this season when Luck was out with a right shoulder injury.

The Colts, who lead the AFC South with a 4-5 record, have a bye this weekend and play at Atlanta on Nov. 22.

Joseph Randle Youth Jersey

IRVING, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys have released running back Joseph Randle(Joseph Randle Jersey).Randle had been excused from the team since last week to deal with what the club called a “personal issue.” According to sources, he is also facing a suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy for an incident in February in Wichita, Kansas.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones did not want to say whether the decision was related to impending NFL discipline.

“We don’t want to go there as an organization as far as our relationship with Randle,” Jones said. “We just think it’s time for us to not have him on the roster. That’s the decision we made today, and we stand ready to help him work through any of his other issues.”

Randle suffered an oblique strain in his last game, which was Oct. 25 against the New York Giants, after just two carries. He lost his starting job to Darren McFadden.

After Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Jones said he was concerned for Randle’s well-being.

“I’m always concerned as to any issues regarding the [mental] health of a player,” Jones said. “It’s a lot more serious than the football [injury].”

According to sources, Randle made a call to police last week because of concern about the whereabouts of his girlfriend. However, no wrongdoing was found.

In September, Randle met with NFL officials after he was cleared legally regarding a domestic violence call in February involving the mother of his son. Per league policy, a player can still be disciplined even if there is no legal penalty.

Failing production, off-field incidents and pending NFL discipline were all factors in the Cowboys’ decision to release Randle; a source told ESPN’s Ed Werder that “all things were included in this decision.”

The Cowboys now have McFadden, Christine Michael and Rod Smith at tailback.

It has been a quick fall for Randle, who was viewed last spring as the replacement for DeMarco Murray, who ran for an NFL-best 1,845 yards last season and left via free agency for the Philadelphia Eagles.

In five games — all starts — Randle ran for 315 yards and a team-high four touchdowns on 76 carries, but he angered coaches at times. In Dallas’ Oct. 5 overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints, he reached the ball over the goal line and needed a replay reversal for a touchdown to be called, but the coaches reacted harshly because it was the second straight game he did it despite their orders not to.

When asked how the move made the Cowboys better, Jones said, “Well, we’ve been pleased with how McFadden has basically stepped up his competitiveness. His resolve has given us a foundation and a leadership at the running back position. It’s critical, so that’s certainly a consideration and then we have a couple of young backs in Christine Michael and Smith that we think can really contribute to the team as well. We’re in good shape at running back or we wouldn’t have made this decision.”
